GarageBand is a place for independent and unsigned musicians or bands to promote themselves. It's a terrific example of a multimedia community with loads of features on offer to members. You can display information/bio, promote your gigs and sell CDs (price-based manufacturing service also available) amongst other things. Its a very popular cutting-edge site with some big name backing, seems like a good way to promote your music.

Musicane is a music-makers solution for selling music digitally online, enabling users to easily integrate a slick e-commerce system into an existing website or to create a stand-alone online store. A free Musicane Lite account enables you to upload and sell up to 24MB (6 songs at 4MB) of MP3s with you receiving 60% of the price per transaction. You get paid monthly by direct deposit, PayPal or even paper cheque. If you want more you can upgrade your account which will cost you 30USD per month but will increase your share of each transaction to 70%. You can then upload up to 250 songs in either MP3 or WMA with Microsoft DRM format. Apparently "Musicane Lite is tastefully advertisement supported".
